Legal and ethical issues

In this report I will be talking about the legal and ethical issues I will think about while creating my website. This will be about copyright issues, if the content is offensive, if it can be accessed by anyone even if they have a disability and the last issue is misrepresentation such as being liable.

Copyright is going to be a big issue for my website since it is a niche product, so finding copyright free images will also be a struggle. Such as, if I were to do something such as a Pokémon, I would then have to find a copyright free image of the actual anime. To help with this I would have to use a copyright free image website e.g., Pexels.com or Flickr. Even when thinking about the text I will use this when writing my reviews to make sure that the words I use are my own words and not use any from a different review written by someone else without their permission.

The next issue I will need to focus on is if the content I put onto my website will offended anyone, to make sure there is no offensive text, videos, or images on my website The content I produce cannot be racist for example I am creating this website for an anime which is classed as Japanese cartoons and therefore if I do not know a lot about Japanese culture it could lead to people, who either live in Japan or have Japanese heritage, being offended because of my lack of knowledge on their culture.

While doing some research I came across the term cultural etic which means an outsider looking in on a particular culture, for example since I am doing a website based around anime and Japanese culture I can't just say that all anime characters eat noodles and do Kung Fu. This term could also relate to the fact that many anime are not always set in Japan and that some can take place in other Asian and non Asian countries like France, England and America.
